Ignore the initial message I left in bold-italic below. I decided to just import it all and start all over, but we now just want to know if it is possible to build a custom front-page.php file. Using an actual page for the homepage is not ideal, at all. The title meta is not SEO friendly, etc.
We did an import for the Widget and Options, but cannot get the homepage to look like the demo, with our own content of course.
It just looks like a blog page to us and we don't see homepage widget areas.
Is there a setup guide for that without importing unnecessary attachments and losing our settings, like a front-page template? In other words, you have to make a new page for home and use the Visual Composer?
Also, our images aren't showing up because the old theme dimensions appear to be unsupported. Some were custom on our other theme. Is there a filter or action we can use to add support for them in the child functions.php file?
I assume this is why our author avatars aren't showing, as well. But we use WP Avatar Plugin and we're seeing two author images either way. Our's were 90x90 but the theme appears to be 145px. I just used .avatar:first-child {display:none}.
It is possible, however it is not recommended unless you are familiar with programming. Also you can make single page using Visual Composer and set it as Front Page of your website by going into: Settings > Reading > Front Page Display and there set created page as Front Page as in this screenshot https://www.screencast.com/t/hdZAW1Rp .
When it comes to SEO, we recommend using Yoast SEO plugin.
Thanks for the response. We seemed to have gotten the hang of this. Aside from Visual Composer being a bit slow, it's pretty dang cool. Clearly you all put a lot of time and effort into this theme and it shows. We have gotten numerous compliments despite the botched switch-over. It really is a beautiful theme.
On the Regenerate Plugin issue, it is working now. It was a PHP7 update issue.
And just one last question, is there anyway to support HTML in the author box or even hook into it? We used to have book links for our writers who had published work. Look at mine here and you'll see what I mean. We also are trying to put Outbrain after the author or comments.

Unfortunately, text you are pointing is rendered as raw text, not html and so it can not contain html tags, since it will only display them. It can be changed, however Custom Coding is necessary.
Unfortunately we are not in a position to accept any custom work at the moment, because we primarily need to focus on providing Theme Support to all customers. We hope you understand.
