    Hi

    A number of issues, if you can help, but the main one is I am struggling to actually get the homepage to show up as it does on the demo theme. I have imported the widgets - which show on the widgets page but not the homepage - and tried both static home pages and latest posts, but nothing shows up under the navigation bar, save either latest posts or the text I have had on my static homepage.

    I have tried using the default sidebar, creating new sidebars, activated the short home sidebar too, created a new one...  nothing shows. On my old theme this section was in the widgets - different theme, I know, but I can't figure it out. I am on my staging site, to try and do this before I go live - I'm glad I did! (pics attached)

    Also I cannot find a similar template to the thumbnail slider/carousel option on slider revolution to install. Do you have the name of this one?

    In addition to this,  I do not want the featured image appearing at the top in every article, but can't seem to turn this off?

    Lastly, related posts under an article do not keep to the same featured image dimensions, making it look very messy. Is there a way to force ratio or size this? (pic attached)

    Or maybe you have a brief guide to using this theme? I've found it quite difficult to navigate and figure out its use, and I'm something of a computer-savvy 22 year old!

    Hello there,

    Thank you for using our theme.

    For the sidebar you need to include it in Elated Options > Page https://www.screencast.com/t/Nf3j4M6xzx for Pages and for Blog Posts Elated Options > Blog https://www.screencast.com/t/OYb1rjRlTsi. Also if for certain page/blog there is no sidebar yet, go to backend of that page scroll down to Elated Sidebar and set it there https://www.screencast.com/t/MEMcVsCSI0Qm.

    For the Carousel Slider it is not included in Slider Revolution but it is made using Element named Elated Post Swipe Carousel in the back-end of the page inside Visual Composer this case https://www.screencast.com/t/KpKHdPQkil5Z

    You can remove featured image of the certain post by going into back-end of the post, scroll to Featured Image and click Remove Featured Image https://www.screencast.com/t/G2MgIZnyGq.

    Whole documentation for using our theme can be found in http://demo.elated-themes.com/readanddigest-documentation/

    Also by importing our demo you will get site as http://readanddigest.elated-themes.com/

    Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Thanks.

    Hi

    Thanks - I've figured most of it out now. However, I still have the featured image appearing in the post itself; I need a featured image so it shows on the homepage, but don't want it in the post... How can I change this?

    Also, images on the homepage all come up as different sizes, which looks very untidy, as well as in the carousel slider at the top - it isn't filled. Most of my images are very HQ over 2000x pixels. Any ideas?

    Cheers

  • crownchronicles replied

    Sorry another couple of issues: I have turned off featured image on an individual post, but there is now a huge gap between the title and start of the post, despite me changing the size of the header area there and in elated settings

    Also my logo has shrunk for no reason; again I've tried changing the logo area size. Logo is 270 height but now appears...

    Thanks

    Hello there,

    Welcome and thanks for writing in.

    Single Blog post is supposed to have Featured Image. However it can be hidden but there will be a gap reserved for the image. However, it can be resized using some Custom Css, like this

    body.single-post .eltdf-title.eltdf-breadcrumbs-type.eltdf-title-has-thumbnail.eltdf-has-background.eltdf-content-left-alignment.eltdf-title-image-not-responsive {
        height: 200px;
    }
    body.single-post .eltdf-title-holder {
        height: 100%!important;
    }
    body.single-post .single-post .eltdf-title.eltdf-title-has-thumbnail .eltdf-title-post-info{
        bottom: 5px;
        height: 50px;
    }

     Just paste it into Elated Options > General > Custom Css

    For the logo issue: The original photo you upload for your logo should be twice bigger than the one you want to be displayed on site, because of retina rule.

    So, for example, if you want your logo displayed as 200x100 px, you should upload original photo as 400x200px.

    And in Elated Options -> Header, you set the header height initially and on scroll if you use sticky header type, note that logo can\'t be displayed bigger than that height you set there http://screencast.com/t/cYoTwd7bKRN so it will be restricted in height by the Header Height you have set.

    Please let us know if this was helpful and if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Thanks.

    Hi

    My theme is hugely messed up. It might be the social media code? That is what's showing everywhere; I contacted my hosts and they said you need to update/correct this at your end as the problem was with the theme, not anything I could access. Is there an update or has anyone else experienced this? When I was logged in to my site, it seemed ok, but for others (including my readers) they couldn't see anything!

    Anxiously awaiting your help!

    Hello again,

    There is an issue with Visual Composer since it is not rendering content on the front end. So please go to Plugins and check whether Visual Composer is active, and if so, please completely delete Visual Composer and you will get message that it is required plugin and install it again.

    If you still have issue with this, please provide us your wp admin access and FTP access so we can solve the issue for you.

    Thanks.

    Hi

    Thanks, it seems to be working now, but the social media icons are still not right. I'm going to try a plugin for them.

    However, some gaps are showing, and I can't seem to figure out why (image).

    Is there a way to add a widget for an ad in the logo space? thanks for your help

  • crownchronicles replied

    Now, the font in the slider keeps changing to a smaller size and dark grey (a colour which I haven't used on the site). H1 is already set as white and a larger size, so where are the settings for this? deleting it and reinserting the slider worked but it has done it once more

    How can I also change the size of the font in the sidebar headings? they are H6 but this is showing up considerably smaller (pic)

    Hi again,

    1) For the widget spacing it might be related to WordPress 4.8 update. This is because of WordPress wpautop function which is wrapping lines with paragraph tags, and now function is being executed in text widget because it is present be default in text editor, which is inducted in WordPress version 4.8. Solution to this is to remove all spaces inside text widgets, and if that doesn't work 100% or you don't want to go trough all theme widgets and to do this manually you can simply add following line of code inside theme folder / functions.php

    remove_filter('widget_text_content', 'wpautop');
    If you want  permanent modification for future updates you should add that line inside child theme folder / functions.php file.

    2) It can be done with some Custom Css and we can generate some to solved the issues but we need your actual page to do so. Please provide us link to it and we will gladly assists.

    Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Thanks.

    Hi

    Thanks for this info; with regards to the ad space at the top, I will get in contact shortly when the site is up and running (currently on staging).

    I have increased the size of the logo but only the bottom of it is showing (attachment). The size of the space is correct (300px) and if I increase it, more shows, but there's still all this space.

    Hello there,

    Without actual link to the site it is hard to reproduce what is causing issue since we can not inspect it closer. so you can try to paste this code into Elated Options > General > Custom Css field

    .eltdf-logo-area .eltdf-position-left-inner {
        height: 100%!important;
    } .eltdf-logo-area .eltdf-position-left-inner .eltdf-logo-wrapper{
        height: 100%!important;
    } .eltdf-logo-area .eltdf-position-left-inner .eltdf-logo-wrapper a{
        height: 70%!important;
        position: relative;
        top: 50%;
        transform: translateY(-50%);
    }

    and if that does not solve the issue please provide us WP Admin access with credentials so we can investigate it and solve the issue.

    Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Thanks.

    Hi

    No, that didn't work. The site is http://16a.eb8.myftpupload.com/ currently

    I will happily make an account for the logo and the sidebar widget header text issues; can I have an email address?

    Cheers

    Hello,

    That happens because you followed the rule for logo height just for the default logo, not light logo and since in that page you are using Light Header logo is not displayed properly. So you can either follow same rule for light logo or use Dark logo. To make Dark logo appear please go to Elated Options > Header and for Header Style choose Dark

    or for certain pages please go to back-end of that page, scroll down to Elated Header section and for for the Header type choose Dark

    If you still have issue with this even after all modification, please use this Custom Css code

    .eltdf-logo-wrapper a img.eltdf-normal-logo{
        opacity: 1!important;
    } .eltdf-logo-wrapper a img.eltdf-light-logo{
        opacity: 0!important;
    }

    which will generally just show Dark Logo always in all your pages so it looks like this

    Please let us know if this solved the issue and if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Thanks.

    Hello there,

    Thank you for the credentials.

    1) For the sidebar use this Custom Css code with setting desired font-size:

    .widget .eltdf-pt-two-item .eltdf-pt-two-content-holder h4.eltdf-pt-two-title{
        font-size: 19px;
    }

    2) For the drop-down menu items use next code, again with setting desired size:

    .eltdf-drop-down .eltdf-menu-second .eltdf-menu-inner ul li>a{
        font-size: 16px
    }

    3) For only third column color please use this Custom Css code with setting desired color:

    footer .eltdf-three-columns-inner div:nth-child(3) .widget ul li a{
        color: red
    }

    4) You can include content right from the logo by adding it in the Appearance > Widgets in the Right From Logo widget area https://www.screencast.com/t/z8zt8h3l5Ak , just add in that widget area desired content you want to be rendered on the front-end.

    5) For the related Posts' text over the image use this Custom Css code with setting desired color:

    .eltdf-related-posts-holder .eltdf-related-content .eltdf-related-info-section > div > div{
        color: red
    }

    6) For the titles of the carousels color please use this code with setting desired color

    .eltdf-pswt-thumb-slider .eltdf-pswt-slide-thumb .eltdf-pswt-thumb-content h4{
        color: red!important;
    }

    7) For the images sizing in 5) and 6) please try to upload featured images with same size and they will be rendered as same in the the front-end, as in our demo https://www.screencast.com/t/hV0C7T1pAoj .

    Please let us know if this was helpful and if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Hi - a few of these haven't worked. The sidebar font css just did the links not the headings; and the font colour for the one widget which was gold only changed the 3rd column of my footer's text colour. Again, I need to change the colour of the post info on related posts at the bottom of an article.

    I have just noticed on 'category' pages, the category automatically shows up and obscures the image (picture); also I have hundreds of posts so the dots as page numbers doesn't look very good for me - too crowded! Any ideas how to turn this off an alter the page number display?

    Thanks for those that did

    Hello again,

    1) Can you please point us with some screenshots to which exact sidebar you want to make customization since on the one that we were customizing all changes were applied. You are probably watching different one from the one that we have customized. So it would be the best if you provide us which exactly sidebar you want to be customized.

    2) For the category overlay you can remove it using this Custom Css code

    body.category .eltdf-pt-one-item .eltdf-pt-one-image-holder .eltdf-post-info-category{
        display: none;
    }

    For the pagination unfortunately, it can not be changed it is predefined pagination.

    Please let us know if this was helpful and if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Thanks.
