I am helping a client finish up a website after their original designer went out of business. We are just about done.
I need to get the latest version of the theme installed in order to add the Google API key. I just purchased the theme, even though I don't intend on creating a new website with it, so that I can update the existing theme.
How can I update the theme without installing the new version and removing everything we have already done?
Finally, when the site is complete the domain will be http://altolawgroup.com.

First of all, please made site back-up so if something goes wrong you can restores old site.
Than, you need to export content from the previous site using WordPress export tool. To do so, please go to Tools > Export and check All Content and click Download Export File https://www.screencast.com/t/8Di6YVQ4zJ .
Also, you need to save Theme Options as well. Those options are saved in your site database. On your localhost go to phpMyAdmin or any other database tool that you are using, navigate to wp_options table and export it than when you install new theme import that table.
Than install your new theme, activate it and import content using WordPress importer and file that you have previously exported. Just go to Tools > Import > WordPress Importer https://www.screencast.com/t/3xAAusJoaH2 and import xml file that you have previously downloaded.
After that go to your live site WordPress back end > Theme Options and hit Save Changes.
That should migrate your site content to new theme.
