You can directly paste in Portfolio External link whole link to the Product page, don't mind external/internal prefix since it basically means that you will not be linked to single portfolio page but to some external page, and it does not matter which one it is.

By default, portfolio link in Portfolio List will have _self as target attribute which means it will be opened in same widow.

For the Smooth Page transition if it is enable in Elated Options > General it should apply there as well.

We have created page http://www.amargosa.it/elated-test-page/ with portfolio list and as you can see from that page when clicked on the ALL FOR COLLEGE desired page is opened by in new window. To change it please open file wp-content\plugins\eltdf-core\post-types\portfolio\shortcodes\portfolio-list.php 

and change 965th line with this one

$portfolio_link_target = !empty($portfolio_link_meta) ? '_self' : '_self';
