That is default behavior of the Centered Header layout and one solution can be to change Header Transparency to 0 so it is transparent. To do so please go to Elated Options > Header and there set 0 for Background Transparency
Another solution is to provide us link to your page ( since your site is in maintenance mode ) so we can check it and try to adjust it with some Custom Css code.

This is not what I meant to achieve. I wanted to header area to have his own section and let the content appear underneath it. The content is currently still behind the header. Only the header has now a transparant background.

Hi,
Just since recently the header area (menu plus logo) is in front of the beginning of the content. This is only if I select the centered header type.
