I just uploaded and installed the theme. I have wordpress 4.9 and I also purchased the VC license because I thought that may be the issue, but it did not fix the issue.
In Firefox (latest version) it give an error "Content Coding Error" - The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression."and in chrome the visual composer does not appear on edit page screen. And you can not go into text mode or view any of the VC shortcodes. it is the Core plugin that is causing the issue, when disabled VC works, when it is active, it does not. I checked the settings, they are on for all pages, posts, ect....
Having same issue and did same troubleshooting scenario. I can load things in but NOTHING saves... I cleared cache, increased memory on the hosting, disabled and enabled plugins. Trying to edit in class mode and that is sucking as well... once I go classic am I stuck i classic?
