I create an new item in "Elated portfolio" mnu in backoffice. I choose "portfolio small masonry" in "portfolio type", I upload some image (some of them are wide, some of them are square, like your example). I've choosen "2 columns" parameter. But my wide picture stay in the width of 1 column.
I like masonry's style cause that permit a picture (the wider of them) to occupy the entire width of the block, and a picture less important (the square) to occupy only the half of the block. I try with different width of picture, I try with other portfolio category (like small galery). But it's not working.

You've probably didn't set Image size to be Large size when you uploaded that picture https://www.screencast.com/t/WldQNHDa.
