    Hello Mike,

    Thanks for writing in!
We are very sorry for the late answer, we were working with a limited resources for a past few days and we are not working during the weekends, thank you for your patience and your understanding!

You should navigate to Slider you want to edit and click on Slider Settings tab:

And change default Slide Duration in General Settings>Defaults Tab:

Please let us know if there is something else we can do for you!
    Thank You,
    Kind Regards,
    Norah

I've tried that a few times but it's having no effect on the duration of the slide.

Actually, that instruction impacts the length of time BETWEEN SLIDES (the blank space before the next slide appears). I need to make the time on slide last longer.

    Hello Mike,

I am pretty sure that answer I have suggested you is right.

What could happen is that your slides aren't set to last until the end of the slide and this happens sometime with the Revolution Slider when you set its duration in a way I have previously described to be longer than it was before.

You can easily change this by clicking on clock on the left side of the layer:

Also in this section you can change duration of each slide manually by dragging its end:

In case this didn't help you could you please tell me how long do you want this slider to last and I will set it to you, just please provide us with your wp credentials an d the name of the slider?

Please let us know if there is something else we can do for you!
    Thank You,
    Norah
