Im ( as many other ) having the same issue time and time again and I feel that you've not really addressed anyones concerns.

Ive got a API key ( I've tried several ) and yet no matter what I do the map will not show the address that I put in your VC components address box. What worries me more is that when your demo data installed that map also does not work and your support documents are useless.

it seems that you simply pass off the responsibility to Google and thats not fair as we all bought the template off you.

Please provide a detailed description on how to get YOUR google map working and not simply tell me to go to google and look it up.

    UPDATE:
I can infact show your NYC address that comes with the demo data but inputing any other address results in the Austrlia map being show. There is a lot of documentation suggesting that its something to do with the theme as many others have show the same issue.

    Questions:
how do you require the address to be formatted as anything other Tham ( New York, NY, USA ) as inputted via your demo data simply does not work.

Please feel free to look for yourselves - its not the API Key, its the theme thats the issue.
Double maps on the home page.

    UPDATE 2:
Got bored of waiting for support. Fixed it myself.
Answer is simple - your support documentation is crap - you need to update it to reflect changes in Googles API Request and GeoLocations... Its not just the standard API as you keep copy and pasting to everyones requests for help!

    Hi Jason,

Sorry for the late response, our working hours are only during the weekdays.

Thanks for the feedback. We are glad that you've managed this. We are currently working to improve our documentation so that our customers can better understand those issues. You have to understand that we are using using Google maps with our themes as a third party asset. Since the Google changed policy about getting API key few times in the past few months, since July exactly, getting proper API key (the one that will work) have few steps more, like enable billing, setting restrictions etc. You can read more about it in here: https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/user-guide/

Earlier this year, getting API key was easier, because the Google maps were free.

In the following link you can read more about billing: https://developers.google.com/maps/billing/understanding-cost-of-use

And in here how the pricing is working: https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/pricing/

For any other questions, let us know!

    Best regards,

    Marie

To be honest it has nothing to do with the API KEY Its down to the settings you request when you generate the API. If certain ones ( GeoLocating ) are not selected then it won't display any data...

    Hello Jason,

Thanks for writing in and thank you for your thoughtful advice!

We will definitely have this in mind in order to provide best possible support for our customers.

We are fully aware of this and this is actually part of the answer we send to our users, but you have luckily solved this youself, before your ticket was addressed:

Search for Geocoding and click on Google Maps Geocoding API -> Enable API. Do the same thing for Geolocating.

Please let us know if there is something else we can do for you!
    Thank You,
    Norah

Thanks to you both for this thread. I've been hitting my head against the desk for 2 days trying to figure out this Elated Google Map. FINALLY, AN ANSWER!! Very, very happy. Looks way better than the standard Google Map and works fine now that I've enabled Geocoding & Geolocating as described below.

    Hello,

So sorry for the trouble. As we mentioned, you need to create your google API key by following the instructions here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key

And then you need to paste that key in Theme Options > General > Google maps api key field.

But note that Google maps no longer free and you can take a look about it here >> https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/pricing/

For any other issue you are facing please feel free to ask us and we will assist you as soon as possible. I will give my best to help you building your site.

    Thank you,
    Jerry
