Parallax effect is usually used on full screen and full width desktop screens. It is basically designed for those screens at first place. Note that parallax image should be really high in pixel size, because of the parallax scrolling effect. So, since height must be fully utilized, then if image is much bigger in width, it will lose some part on edges. Important part is that the images need to be at least double the height in pixels then the section that parallax actually takes in frontend.
On the other hand, parallax effect behave strangely on different mobile device, and there is no way to determine how will it act on those devices. Sometimes it may work properly on one device and it can be messed up on another. That is why we disabled the parallax effect on our themes by default for mobile/touch devices.
