Demo Content Customization

I'm trying to create a portfolio website that includes a home, portfolio, about and contact pages. I imported the Demo content from Brynn theme and I have tried to use the Masonry II structure for the portfolio page. The problem is that I can't find a way to replace the images. The same issue happens when I try to change the colors, typeface or images used in the homepage as well as in the about and contact pages.

I've applied global changes from the Page settings in the Brynn Options and I changed the logo and typeface in some parts of the pages, but I don't have full control over the customization of the pages included in the Demo content. All that I see on the editor section is a large block of text in the form of code and at the end of it I find the WPBakery Page Builder appearing as "blank" to start adding elements. However, I don't want to start building new pages from scratch, I would like to use the demo content and learn how to edit it to build my own pages from there. I hope this explains what I'm trying to achieve.

I deleted the theme and its plug-ins in order to reinstall it. After that, I installed the Classic Editor plug-in and now when I edit the pages everything seems to look fine (instead of having that large line of code). I think the main issue had to do with the fact that the theme needs to install the last update from the WPBakery Page Builder, otherwise it's not possible to edit visually the demo content from this theme. I couldn't update this plug-in myself because I'm not a "direct buyer" and I have to wait until the author of the theme adds the update. When would that be? I hope soon.

On the other hand, I'm having an issue with the menus. I've installed the Quick Remove Menu Item plug-in in order to be able to remove menu items easily. However, I'm confused about which menu items should be removed and which ones should stay so that I can create a simple menu that only shows the word Menu and when hovering on it, this displays a drop-down list including Home, Portfolio, About and Contact. I'm aware that after importing the demo content the menus might be duplicated, so I think this is the cause of the problem. Could you please assist me with some advice to understand how to work with the menu items? I would like to use the ones from the demo content but at the same time I would like to "clean up" the ones that I have (which probably have been duplicated).

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon, thank you for your time and assistance.

Following up my previous post, I have this issue with the menu items where I can't seem to find a way to edit or delete the ones locates at the bottom of the page. I looked in the footer options but I couldn't find the options to replace the logo or to edit the menus around it. The other thing that I'm struggling with is how to edit the permalink of the page. I would like to change it from https://mywebsite.com/portfolio/portfolio to https://mywebsite.com/portfolio. Also how can I get rid of the text on the right that says Home / Private: Portfolio / Portfolio? As well as the word on the left that says Portfolio?

    Hi there,

In order to change portfolio single slug please navigate to Brynn Options > Portfolio like shown in this screenshot:

Also in order to change footer content you need to navigate to Appearance > Widgets and edit one of the footer widget areas.

If you need anything else please let us know.

    Best,

    George

    Hello,

    1. Please note that you can set desired permalinks structure in Settings >> Permalinks, but this changes will apply only for posts >>

    1194055957.png

For instance, of you choose Post name structure, URLs of your posts should be looking just like this as at the screenshot below >>

    2098317103.png

All custom post types require additional slugs like /portfolio-item/ or /job/ or /listing/.

Custom post types need do be read differently by WordPress than default post type such as blog, because you couldn't have the same name for blog post and portfolio post.

You can, however, change the these slugs to something else, you can usually do that through theme options.
Theme Options > Portfolio >> Portfolio Single slug.

    1938528290.png

Please note that these need to be unique ( you cannot use any existing name of some page), and there is no way to remove prefix completely, because of reasons mentioned above, you may only change it to your desire.

So, when you go to some portfolio single page, the url of that page should be looking like this >> your-site-domain.com/portfolio-single-slug/name-of-single-portfolio-item

    4274820951.png

    2. Anyhow, please note that you can create a new Portfolio List page and then add desired number of Portfolio items separately.

    3. Remove extra menu items

If you imported demo content multiple times, it's possible that you duplicated menu items several times. You should install this helpful plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/quick-remove-menu-item/

Then go to Appearance > Menus and remove duplicated menu items.

For any other issue you are facing please feel free to ask us and we will assist you as soon as possible. I will give my best to help you building your site.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Vladimir

Such a complicated way to fix this simple issue. I just installed the Custom Permalinks plug in and I was able to edit the URL of my pages as I wanted to. I figured out myself (again) how to solve a problem of something that shouldn't be a problem from the beginning. This theme looks nice from the outside but it's not user friendly at all on the inside. Sorry to say this, but it's true. That's why you have so many tickets. If you would use a different page builder, something more intuitive (like Elementor or Divi for example), you would have less people asking the same questions all the time and your customer support would be faster and more efficient. Just a suggestion. Take it into account.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback, I will sure pass this suggestions from you. Also I'm glad that you solved this issue, it's little tricky to suggest third party plugins to our customers that we didn't test with our themes.

    I hope you understand.

    Best,

    George
