Urgent: Widgets Missing After Update (v1.5)

    Hello,

We just attempted the update and had several issues. We have made a lot of changes, but ultimately all of the issues boil down to the Elated Widgets being missing. The handle for the parent stylesheet changed, so noticing that and changing the handle in the functions.php file fixed some issues. But the widgets for theme are not appearing.

I attached a few screenshots to show you the tabs menu, and the widgets.php page. I zoomed out on the widgets page for you to see the entire page and that they are missing.

See the last two functions in the screenshot?

We noticed they were missing when we compared and older version of the theme we had on backup with the new updated version of the theme.

Just FYI. And we're trying to located other missing files and functions because some of our customs didn't change, and they really should have if those files weren't missing, as well.

  • WPNewsPlugins replied

I'm just adding to this as we find more issues. The meta boxes are also gone, which we're investigating, and CSS is loading the following files on the post-new and edit etc screens. The Developer Tools screenshot is the second one, which shows you all the resources that are being loaded.

  • WPNewsPlugins replied

I know you'll answer when you get a chance. But to keep you updated, we did comment out line 251 in functions.php.

    wp_enqueue_style( 'newsroom-elated-admin-styles', ELATED_FRAMEWORK_ADMIN_ASSETS_ROOT . '/css/eltdf-modules-admin.css' );

That removes the styles and the Gutenberg editor returns to normal, though not the Newsroom meta boxes. I imagine the classes or IDs need to be further qualified. Next is investigating the meta box issue.

    Hello there,

In latest update we change some framework theme files and moved widgets and shortcodes  to Core plugin.

You need to delete old version of our core plugin and when you install latest version of theme you will have a note to install new version of core plugin.

    Then everything should be fine.

    Kind regards,
    Ash

Just so I understand correctly, you're talking about the Elated CPT plugin?

  • WPNewsPlugins replied

Does look good! There wasn't a notice. We just went to the plugins page and next to the activate/deactivate links there was an "upgrade needed" button.

  • WPNewsPlugins replied

We didn't back it up, and should've. Can you email me the old version of the theme. That latest theme completely crashed our site.

Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function newsroom_elated_get_post_categories_VC() in wp-content/themes/newsroom/framework/modules/widgets/post-layout-one/post-layout-one.php:55

All of those methods are not defined in each layout. Author, etc. Also not defined.

  • WPNewsPlugins replied

    We got it.

For whatever reason, everything had to be completely deleted and the cache purged. We went to a barebone theme and reinstalled everything, then it reactivated the theme and plugin. That worked. Should be warnings and instructions. If there is, it doesn't come through on the update details page.

    But all is good now.
