Deleting Woo Commerce breaks site

    Hi There,

I will not be using Woo Commerce on this website and would like to delete it. However, when I do so, the website ceases to work properly.

If I deactivate the Academist LMS plugin and the Woo Commerce plugin, then things work fine. But with the Acadamist LMS plugin deactivated, the Academist Courses Post Types obviously are no longer available.  And while I don't need any ability to purchase courses from the website, I do need to use the Courses Post Types to advertise the courses.

Is there a way that Woo Commerce can be deleted while keeping the Acadamist LMS plugin active?

    Thank You,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

These two plugins are dependent on each other and as such you cannot delete the WooCommerce plugin. However, you could simply not set it up and hide all elements pertaining to it using custom css.

If you'd like help with that please provide us with a detailed list of elements that you'd like hidden and we'll supply the custom css code. If possible please include screenshots and links to the pages in question so that we could provide you with a more precise answer.

Also, it may be helpful if you could provide us with your wp-admin details(in a private ticket) so we can log in and investigate this further.

Hope this helps! If there is anything else that we can help you with please don't hesitate to ask.

    Kind regards,
    Sean

Thank you Sean. I thought it might be the case that the two plugins are dependent on each other. I'd like to suggest a modification be made to a future version of the Academist theme so the LMS plugin can be used without Woo Commerce being installed.

Adding a bunch of custom CSS to visually hide the Woo Commerce elements is fine, but I'm sure you'll agree that it's nice to be able to remove plugins that aren't used. It makes the backend in Wordpress cleaner and less confusing for clients, improves page load time because there isn't a bunch of extra code, and Woo Commerce just about doubles the number of tables in the database. It's a great plugin, but if not being used, it just leaves alot of unnecessary bulk.
