We just tested this locally and adding breaks is possible in both these templates. Comparing your content, you will notice that it's the same both in small gallery and standard gallery too:
The difference is that there is a margin in standard gallery that makes a bigger space between the paragraphs. You can either add a margin on small gallery using CSS or you can just add another break in the text to achieve a similar effect:
We hope this clears things up. If there's anything else, please let us know.

Hello,
I'm unable to add line breaks in the descriptions for small gallery (http://bza.a5c.myftpupload.com/gallery/giuliano-bekor-echoes/) and small masonry gallery (ex: http://bza.a5c.myftpupload.com/gallery/martin-nielaba/). I have tried using

and and
but as soon as it's saved. the formatting is stripped. I have copy and pasted the same text to standard gallery description and the breaks appear: http://bza.a5c.myftpupload.com/gallery/giuliano-bekor-modernismo/
Is there a way to add linebreaks in the descriptions of small gallery portfolio items? Please advise.
Thanks!
