    Hello,

my website is running on Corretto 1.2 child. Today I received the alert about Corretto update to version 1.3.

The problem is that my WP doesn't show any update for the theme, the same on Envato Market plugin dashboard. Do I have to update the theme via FTP? (I already downloaded the files from my customer area in themeforest)

What about the updated plugins included in Corretto 1.3? The package downloaded from themeforest doesn't include any of that.

Do you have any suggestion to run a smooth update? Is there a particular process to follow?

    Many thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Giorgio

    Hi Giorgio,

Regarding concrete instructions on updating a theme, first you should deactivate plugins bundled with theme (especially those which we updated, you can check this in our theme's changelog) than you switch to some default WordPress theme like Twenty Nineteen and delete Corretto theme. Than you upload and install new version of the theme you've downloaded from themeforest. After activating it, go to Appearance -> Install plugins and update all plugins which require updating, and after you updated those, you can activavate them, and that would be it.

If you made changes to any of theme files, note that those will be lost on udpate so you should make a backup of all filese before you proceed so that you can recreate these changes after update.

For more instructions you can also refer to this helpful video tutorial:

It's for one of our other themes, but procedure is very similar.

Let us know if you need any further help.

    Best regards!

    Joey

    Hello,

this process sounds a little unsafe, anyway, since I worked on the child theme I have one more question.

Instead of deleting the theme I'll rename its folder via FTP and then I'll install the update, and only when everything will be ok I'll delete the old version folder. I suppose I must upload just the parent theme and not the child one. Is it correct?

    Awaiting to hear from you

    Cheers

    Giorgio

    Hi again Giorgio,

It may sound unsafe, but it shouldn't be if you didn't make any change directly in theme files. All content, and options you've added/changed through admin panel are saved in WordPress Database so those wouldn't be lost. But you can do it your way as well, more caution will not hurt anyway.

It's correct. You don't have to upload child theme since we didn't made any changes to it in latest update. Especially since you've already used it for your modifications.

Let us know if you need any further help.

    Best regards!
