You can create tags that users will be able to add to their listings, for improved searchability. To create listing tags, please navigate to Listing > Listing Tags. Now all you have to do is enter a name for the tag in the Name field, and click Add New Listing Tag.
The quote above came directly from the documentation provided with the product. Though I am having a difficult time searching for businesses using tags. For example, The Embassy listing that came with the demo content has the tag nightlife, though when I search for nightlife in keywords, absolutely nothing shows up in the results. How can the tags be a tool used for improved searchability when I don't have the option to search the tag as a keyword? It makes no sense, and it is a hindrance to what I am trying to achieve. This is a problem not only my site, but also on the Search and Go demo site.
Wow! I've never heard of such a thing. You do state in your documentation that "You can create tags that users will be able to add to their listings, for improved search ability." Yet you "Don't have something like that on your to do list..."
That's a total misrepresentation. I would really like to be able to have customers search tags as well. If I have hundreds of listings, I can't really expect my users to know a "Listing Title" is a restaurant, or whatever I designate in those tags.
Keywords to the world (including SEO and google) means individual words to filter their search. Tags to wordpress are keywords. This seems like a MAJOR mistake here that needs fixed rather quickly.
This was the answer our developers provided to us, so this is how it works now :( If we receive more complains as feature requests, we'll consider adding something like that to our theme...

Unfortunately we don't have something like that on our to do list... We did this with intention, so only titles are included in keyword search...
Tags are helping with SEO and google search...
