I think your WordPress memory limit and upload time is too low and because of that you got this problem. Could you please try to increase these values or ask your hosting service to do that for you.
I have tried to import hundreds of times and it is impossible. Never reaches 60% even if I try whitout attachments. Can you help me?

max_execution_time = 300
memory_limit = 96M
upload_max_filesize = 128M
post_max_size = 128M
Then check again import functionality. If you still have the problem, could you provide me WP admin access to inspect this problem closely?
