Google Maps API error

Hi, whenever I add a Google maps element using visual composer, the map doesn't work and in the console I have two warnings:

    • ERROR: MissingKeyMapError
    • WARNING: Google Maps API warning: NoApiKeys

I think your theme uses an old implementation of the Google Maps' code. I have seen more than one people complaining about this on this forum. I do not want a "functions.php" correction, as you suggested in another topic. This would mean loosing the fix in case of an update. What's more, I am actually using a child theme. Can you please tell me how to fix this? Thank you.

    Hi Dario,

    Sorry for the late response!

The google changed the api for its maps and this is why you're experiencing this issue.

First you will need to create your own API key as described here: https://www.latecnosfera.com/2016/06/google-maps-api-error-missing-keymap-error-solved.html

After that you can just use this plugin to insert the API key to the places where the key is needed https://wordpress.org/plugins/api-key-for-google-maps/

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with, thanks!
